Union Pacific replaced its bridge a few years ago with a concrete deck bridge. The Oregon Electric lift bridge is still there, but the river has changed course so the lift span is now above a sand bar. Reportedly only raised once when it was built.
The Highway 34 bridge in Corvallis, a manually operated swing span, hasn't been opened since 1982 and is scheduled for demolition and replacement with a higher bridge. The P&W Toledo District bridge in Albany is another manual swing span that hasn't been opened in many decades and is welded closed.
Interestingly, 33 CFR 117.897 require the Union Pacific to restore its bridges to operable condition within six months after notification by the Coast Guard District Commander...yet one of the bridges has been rebuilt to a non-operating condition. The Highway 34 bridge is to be opened on signal with seven days notice, but it hasn't opened in 38 years and reportedly cannot. The Oregon Electric bridge is not mentioned at all nor is the Union Street/SFC&W bridge in Salem
