Nice shot Keith.
Regarding current traffic east of Keddie, the usual suspects (and a few others) per my understanding are below:
Westbounds:
- ANPMI - Autos North Platte to Milpitas, with setouts at Benica or Oakland (6?x per week)
- MNPFR - Manifest North Platte to Fresno. Large setout/pickup at Roseville. Often though the western end of the canyon in the morning.
- INPOA - Intermodal North Platte to Oakland. Close to daily, though can be routed over Donner.
- Canyon Flyer - Runs Portola to Oroville, and back the next. Unsure how often they are running currently.
- Westbound Unit Grain/Coal/Ethenol/Dirty Dirt/Gypsum Trains - All run as needed. Can be zero to several in a day. Grain to various locations in the San Joaquin Valley, Coal for export to Stockton/Richmond, Gypsum to various ag faculties in the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys. It is my understanding that the Gypsum trains are done for the season.
- Military Trains - From Herlong. Often BNSF trains, though unclear if BNSF or UP crew. Run as needed, not real common.
Eastbounds:
- Canyon Flyer - See above.
- Eastbound Gypsum Trains - These return to Empire at Gerlach, NV. Run as needed, and believe done for the season.
- Military Trains - To Herlong. Often BNSF trains, though unclear if BNSF or UP crew. Run as needed, not real common.
Hope that helps a bit. Maybe others can add to/correct this list.
Best regards,
~Matt
