He called it quits on 3985 before he ever got his hands on it. He hated the locomotive,
because he could not take any credit for it's past performance. As far back as 2009 he was
saying he wold see to it that it never ran again. The fact that it ran a number of trips
after he said that, and those were more dramatic than anything he has ever done before or since, is
also an irritant to him.
He now claims it needs multimillions of dollars spent on it, and that it needs the same kind of work 4014 got. Of course, a lot of what was spent on 4014 was totally unnecessary, but if he wanted to spend that kind of money on another toy to be shoved all over the place like 4014 is, then he would have a point.
