Was the original intent to put the UP 3985 back into retirement after resurrecting the 4014?

What is the real & actual difference (if any) between the 3985 and the 4014 engines?

What makes the 4014 a much better suited engine to keep in operation vs. the continued operation of the 3985?

Is there any future chance of seeing the ex-Santa Fe 3751 operating anywhere in northern California or is its operations strictly confined to areas in southern California?
