Well, it was probably Mr. Dicken's original intent. For some reason he always seemed to have a bone for the 3985. 4014 is bigger, and I guess more impressive than 3985 but it lacks a certain grace the Challenger definitely had. In their current use there's really not much difference operationally - except 4014 is probably even more expensive to run than 3985 was. Even more so today than in the Lee era the steamers are just showboats.
