Early in Amtrak's existence (I don't remember the exact years, but early 1970s)the company decreed that all private cars being hauled behind their trains must have the Amtrak red, white & blue color scheme, or they would not be handled.

Seems a bit silly now, but at the time it was important to Amtrak management.
