Just as railroads have sold off, abandoned, or strengthened lines, the world of brewing has changed completely. Pabst has not been brewed in MKE since the late 90s and has been without its own brewery for about the same amount of time. And if some would have read the article, CoorsMiller is giving PBR the option to buy the facility.

Young people are not drinking as much beer. If they are, it is a craft beer. Binge drinking had a peak many years ago. And even older drinkers are not drinking as much due to weight. So spirits are making much headway in the alcohol marketplace. So all of this has much diminished solace for you classic beer brands. They all have seen a drop in sales. I do not like it but it is just the changing of the world. It is the consumer this time that is ultimately driving this change not the state leadership.

Plus, this was just announced. So maybe Cali will try and save the plant. But that is not really a free market and would be corporate welfare. And if Newsome does not do anything, people will complain. He does something, it is big government. But this is more about the sustainability of classic beer brands than anything else.
