11 & 14 the only Amtraks late? Hardly. Nearly all the long-distance trains are usually late, and at least a couple of the Cal-Amtraks in each service corridor are 1/2 hour or more late every day. Schedule padding at certain points along the line allows the the train to magically become 'on time' after accumulating considerable lateness, and is a useful adaptation to Murphy's Law. Of course, when the train actually is on time, that padding becomes a bore for those forced to wait a while at those time points.
One thing I have noticed is that #11 south of Santa Barbara seems to be allowed to run early if it's on time at Santa Barbara. Probably makes sense - not going to be picking up a lot of passengers in that area with Surfliners also covering the line.
