Ralph - With many points financial, I agree. Scrutiny is never a bad idea, but the shibboleths you use about density, etc., miss larger points. I was horrified to see the present overused Hwy.101 from SMART. Figure out the management and financing, but don't strangle further development with that punitive mind-set.
All that said, I have the luxury of living in retirement in Washington State, where my public transportation consists of feeryboats, whose finances have been under assault and been wounded by people buying into demogogery.
