The main benefit is that the belt driven radiator fan was replaced with electrically driven fans, in the same manner as UP's SW10's. Also, the 567 engines were upgraded with 645 parts, and I'm sure there were other upgrades as well, but I couldn't tell you exactly what, not having any personal experience with them.

All 8 were retired and sold to CANAC.
