Despite some of the current round of partisan "gainsay" bulls#it "finger pointing", the CHHSRA has been a "four star" award winning "bipartisan" fiasco. You do remember that it was "Ahnold" who put forward the CAHSRA for Federal funding, and campaigned for the measure, while purportedly promising, on one junket to China, to sole source it to the Chinese... Ahnold did that while withholding over a billion dollars in LOSSAN (way more "shovel ready") projects from applying for stimulus funding, back in 2008.

The CAHSRA fiasco goes back to Pete Wilson and "Project California", which came up with this "big picture" vision, and bad planning led by Quentin Kopp and his crew, ultimately led to this bloated misbegotten fiasco, that meets few of our real transportation needs, while draining resources from and delaying projects with better benefits sometime in the lifespan of the taxpayers, stuck in daily gridlock, who are footing the bill for it.

And, for all of the current talk radio hyper partisan HSR BS, for at least in the last two years, it is the Southern California Democratic Members of the Assembly and Senate. like Laura Friedman, that have been the most critical of the priorities and investments the CAHSRA fiasco has been making, while seeing nothing for their constituents, that have demanded changes. This is why the LAUPT run-through finally got a funding commitment.

There's been plenty of stupid in both parties, on both fringes, in the cabal of special interests, and among the politically wired insiders that have milked this political cow to death, in the long 25 year history, of the consultant driven, taxpayer financed, fiasco and cluster f#ck, at the CAHSRA.
