BART building canopies over subway entrances

Interesting. At first, it looked like more comfortable housing for the homeless. But it says they'll use the canopy to close off the station overnight more effectively. We'll see. At least, for the real customers, it might make the ride down the escalators a little more comfortable in the rain. But then, without rain, how would the (crud) get washed off the escalators and stairs? More expensive cleaning contract?
