A couple of questions for fun for the retired SP guys concerning this move. Did the helper crew consist of an engineer and conductor? The guy making the cut and hook for the helpers hopped on the caboose so was he the rear brakeman? When did the term Red Zone when lacing the air hoses come about? What was the term that predated it? Would it have been easier for the second helper train to stop short of the switch line into the siding and have the first train back up a little farther instead of backing it's whole train up?
