Manhattan deserves what it gets.

And BTW totally OT - do you think Martin Scorsese might have been influenced by Curzio Malaparte in his depiction of "The Irishman"? After all totalitarian politics, militarism, total amorality of an assassin, and the Mafia do seem to have a lot in common.

Never read Malaparte, instead Malraux. But still it is not easy to get a book placed on the Index.

Scorsese's movie's very good, solid performances all around with the best by Al Pacino. "It's MY union." I think Scorsese's solution to the mysterious disappearance is on target.
