I think your example of the BNSF crew in the Atwood accident owning up to their negligence is a good point. Conductor Hillenbrand, based on the hard evidence available according to OPTRRMS, is not in this tradition.
It does you and your brothers and sisters no good at all to insist that the screwups among you should keep their jobs when the public safety is clearly at risk.
