Why avoid these or any vintage RDC's?

Answer: Obsolete systems and outdated controls with little or no parts availability for nearly any components.

Wallowa Union was "sold" that they would be efficient and economical to operate and maintain with less crew. None of which ever came to be.

Ask TriMet about their experience with RDC's. They had/have 1 or more for backup on their WES line I recall.

Wallowa Union "purchased" the 3 cars at an inflated price with a Connect Oregon grant that was "engineered" by ODOT Rail to help plug a hole in their budget and off load some equipment that was of no further use to the Department.
