This is certainly great news. 2-6-0's and 2-8-0's were assigned to all the local work between Oakland and Tracy and frequently got put on as Altamont helpers. As a kid I remember catching up to one pulling the Daylight into Tracy off the Mococo Line. Maybe the power failed near Martinez? I remember it was all my Dad could do to keep up with the locomotive. No speed issues there. Would sure be nice to see a 2-8-0 at NCRy someday too.
