One Brian Fleming bought the #539 in the early to middle 2000s and attempted a restoration, then he swapped it to the Grand Canyon for their former LS&I #18 and #20. The #18 ran on the Mt. Hood through most of 2007 but the economics didn't work out.. Brian subsequently sold the #18 and #20 to San Luis & Rio Grande. As noted GCRy bought the #539 thinking it would be a much better engine for their operations than the LS&I consolidations, but they pulled the plug on their regular steam program shortly after it arrived in Arizona. It's spent the last sixteen or so years in Williams, mostly on display next to the depot, and is now back in the Pacific northwest.
