Pandemic expert Zimmer left the National Security Council voluntarily after Bolton disbanded the unit that Ziemer was supervising as part of an effort to downsize the NSC. The purpose of the unit, which had been to oversee the global fight against Ebola, had largely been fulfilled. But let's not let the truth get in the way of a juicy headline.
