Never knew why that did not make sense to finish. I get the Belen cutoff but it still has 2 sections of single track and it was mostly signal track until a few years ago.
I get the Depression and the lack of Customers on the line. It's kinda someone was not looking at a bigger picture that it would have been the fastest and shortest route between Chicago and LA and Santa Fe was still in the passenger business and this route would have cut out 2 mountain passes.
