Which big business are you referring too, Enron? GM? AIG?
I was speaking of big business and big government in general. But I didn't explain that clearly. And it really doesn't have anything to do with the size of the business, I should have said "businesses and taxpayers". Thank you for pointing that out to me!
What I was trying to say is that, in general, that the liberal press has a habit of reporting and explaining these kind of things (in this case the formation of Amtrak) as if they were hatched in a vacuum by the big government functionaries. As if they all happened to wake up one morning and, all by themselves, decided to "help" businesses and taxpayers out of the goodness of their heart. This is consistent with the liberal press's agenda, as it maximizes the appearance that their beloved big government is all powerful, all important, and the source and instigator of all this "help".
I believe that this, in general, this is not what really happens. I believe, in general (and in particular, the formation of Amtrak), these kind of things don't just happen, that there is a significant "back story", and that by following the money (paid to lobbyists, politicians, and perhaps bribes) we can discover what these back stories are.
Again, thank you "Freericks" for pointing my confusing turn of words.
