In a previous thread, "doubles" over Stampede (2 trains made into one) were discussed. My question now in light of reduced people due to sickness and "social distancing" instead of "doubles," is it feasible to operate "triples?" Will DPU reach that far, can each DPU unit serve as a "repeater?" For that matter, could you run "quads?" Does anybody know if this even has been explored and what the ramifications are.
The question came to me at 4AM today when a double out of Auburn passed by our bedroom window. Instead of 3 minutes of train it ran to about 5 minutes of train with a set of power in the middle. In the dark, I started to wonder why not 8 minutes of train or even 12 minutes of train....
