Sorry to butt in but I saw a question on the "other" site but nobody was getting the right answer. The question was about a "signal" that had a "D" on it and that was it. Answers came back it may be a "derail", etc.

There were only two places I ever saw that. One was at Stronghold on the Wendel Line where the BN crossed the SP and the other was out at Berg on the Western, near Marysville.

See Rule #282, 2-15-43. You had to be careful where they were because their indication doesn't reflect what people were used to thinking. Going by a green signal and when you pass it, it goes to yellow, thats it.

Most Special Instructions covered it.
