It's got deep pockets, that's for sure...
With a few folks I know... It's an interesting list of donors and board members.
It's a sign of the desperation, as the HSR;s "visionary" delusions have become an embarrassing political nightmare, and a costly drain on scarce transportation resources we could be using on projects that do more for their constituents, without waiting for completion in 2063. And, the HSR folks are clearly very fearful of CA coming to its senses, and the increasingly real threat that the Sou Cal legislators, will take some of that money for real needs, down here where the other 60% of the State's taxpayers live..
These "new urbanist" folks, and their counterparts "in-fill" OC developers, just got killed by Sou Cal Senate Members, standing up against and defeating SB-50. This was the Weiner/Morlock "Hitler/Stalin" pact, between these Nor Cal Bay Area Dem "revolutionaries", and OC Rep developers, to pretty much override most local land use control, and "streamline" local development mitigation requirements, for things like parking, or traffic mitigation, which would supposedly allow developers to build more "cheaper" (or maybe just more "profitable"?) residential high density developments.
So, how much does the Pacific Legal Foundation have to spend fighting things like SMART and HSR these days?
You have two in your handle, right? That might explain it...
