On my past trips aboard the Snow Train, the dome car ( Amtrak full length Dome # 10031 ) was a $50.00 additional fee. Well worth the cost, even if the end windows never seemed to be clean, when you consider the alternative is the gunslit windows of Amfleet & Horizon cars. You must request dome space with Alki Tours.
To KRK: Yea, the (school)bus ride into town from the siding was a bit cramped, but you were only on them for a few minutes. Perhaps a 1 1/2 mile walk each way was preferred ??? And yes, the town is a bit crowded; the Christmas tree lighting on Saturdays brings in the folks from Oregon & B.C. Hot tip: the community center / City Hall on the Northeast end of town has clean restrooms that no one seems to know about.
