The deal is not over yet. The Port has said they will agree and pay the 16.6 million dollar price tag. That deal has to close by February 18th, 2009. They have filed for a price reconsideration, if granted by the STB the price could come down to 8 million dollars.
So its not going to be a rails to trail yet. The Port has yet to pick an operator, but that is expected after January 1st, 2009. The operator will run freight from near the Noti-Vaughn area to Eugene. Then after repairs are done to the tunnels, the entire line could be running by September 2009.
