Global 2

I was sitting in my luxurious suite overlooking the UP's Global 2/Proviso operation, with the skyline of Chicago in the distance when a train rolled in on the north lead.
In the consist was a rusty, well beaten 2 door green boxcar, marked Seattle & North Coast.
Did an I-net check and found out that it was an isolated short line in Oregon, abandoned in 1984.
Apparently the S&NC was bought out by another short line, didn't have a chance to catch the reporting mark, except that it looked relatively new when compared to the rest of the car.

So, how does a car from a railroad that was abandoned 36 years ago end up in revenue service in a suburb of Chicago, a small town roughly 2,000 miles east of Oregon?
