If they get an "electric van" in the tunnel, as the story notes they're looking at, it'll be even more Renzenberger. And with no driver ... the parallels are astounding.

As for whether it'll happen, who knows. The only Boring Co. tunnels to be completed so far are the tester in Hawthorne and the parking lot shuttle at LV Convention Center, and the latter for now is just a hole in the ground yet to be finished for actual use. If I were the airport people, I'd be welcoming proposals and doing feasibility studies, but not making a commitment until something is actually observably working in LV. Note that, in terms of capacity, unless there's a wider passing section or a double tunnel, what is proposed will be one Model X shuttling back and forth between the airport and Metrolink. Hardly mass transit, though the mass of the vehicle per seat mile will certainly be impressive.
