The Santa Fe also took horses to the Hollywood Park racetrack in Inglewood, on the Harbor District. Though the park was just beyond the switching limits, if necessary on occasion to get a horse car or two to the park in a hurry, a yard crew was pressed into service. Don't recall what effect that had on the union contracts. Probably irrelevant, but many or most switchmen had dual seniority as brakemen at that time (at least in my recollection...it's been awhile).
