The latest Eureka City manager showed up January and "disappeared" by April.
The Timber Heritage people have a row to hoe. Aside from the outstanding museum site with the 1893 roundhouse and shop the train ride would be flat and time consuming at 10 mph, taking two hours to get to Eureka....great for railfans who want to see the equipment operate.....not so sure about the average visitor. They have an outstanding collection. I think they've made peace with the trail people. All they need now is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
Their former name "Northern Counties Logging Interpretive Association" was more to the point.
The timber industry has done little to promote their heritage in Northern CA since the post war lumber boom/bust. The one company that did (Pacific Lumber) imploded on itself.
