I suspect that it really is just spring cleaning and repositioning equipment for return to service. But some more drastic thing is certainly fun speculation. As: might it be offered again to the state or to Metrolink, if UP is no longer interested in maintaining it to Amtrak levels, and just wants to run an occasional freight train while somebody else maintains it? Or might it be sold/leased to a CORP-type operation?
