I've personally seen a number of times such a person's interaction with visitors to a railroad museum has had negative effects, which can lead to a loss of future income and goodwill. Also, people like that want to "play" with the trains or other machinery but lack the perception, temperament, or sense to do so safely. This causes hazards for those around them as well as themselves, and museums can't afford the kinds of accidents that can result.
