The line between Moraga and the tunnel traversed a watershed which is now part of East Bay MUD eastern slope watershed. Oakland didn't really like the discharge of raw sewage on its streets either (the SN ran on city streets from Rockeridge (which was east of the Rockridge BART station) to 40th & San Pablo. The SN installed deadbolt locks on the lavatory doors, and the trainmen locked them between Moraga and the Pier (later the brdige).
