When I rode Amtrak #25 over the UP Boise Cutoff in January 1995, it was all dark territory with maximum authorized speed of 59MPH for Passenger Trains. It rode good and on the Orchard End, it had fresh ballast and had been tamped, surfaced and aligned right before I rode it. Sad that the trip was at night.
