Those sensing apparatus, started at the West Switch, Capitan and went to the bridge under the highway, west of Waldorf.
The AF maintained the spur at Tangair, off the siding, all the way to end of track., down in the base. Easy 35-40 mph, it was kept like a main line.
Never saw a spur at Narlon or signs of one or at Antonio. It held 70 cars. Casmilia was a "spur" that held 36 cars and held a work train until the 70s.
The spur at South Vandenburg was just that. We set cars out and picked up mtys. SP refused to supply crews or power because the grade was too steep. That's why you would see old government power (AF, Navy, etc.)
The AF paid the Train Masters salary at Lompoc/Surf because he had to be on call for a shoot. We would still have to call MPs as we moved across the area. Sometimes they would call you to stop and then later let you go. Nothing like a shot in the middle of the night.
All of a sudden, bright daylight for quite a bit, then the rocket would start to lift and head down down range.
