Well, nobody mentioned checking the oil on a mallet.

The old heads told me that they would get a hot shot fireman that knew it all and send him back. They forgot to tell him to bled off the air pressure before opening the stick to atmosphere. (Mallets needed pressure in the oil line to get the fuel all the way up to the firebox.)

Well, after a bit, the fireman would come walking up the cat walks, soaked with bunker "C". Not a word was said.
