Former roadnames on power

Are there FRA/CFR rules about showing a former road name on a loco?

For example, an old GP20 I saw in a video has Santa Fe on the side, but not the four letter ID code of the current owner on it anywhere.

On other power I have seen a line painted through the old road name, which is a practice I hate because it’s so ugly and lazy.
