I don't get to post much about things rail related, but I thought I'd share this information. Recently, the City of Oakley was approved for a new Amtrak station, to be built in the downtown area of Oakley. For those of you unfamiliar with Oakley, it is a small community just East of Antioch, along the BNSF Stockton Subdivision. This would be the second station stop between Stockton (to the East) and Martinez (to the West). Currently, the only station stop between those two cities is in Antioch.
Construction is slated to begin late this year or early in 2021, with service beginning in late 2021.
Here is one of the renderings for the station: [

Exiting news for those of us living in East Contra Costa County, and specifically in Oakley. I'm looking forward to seeing its construction and completion.
