Sometimes there are strange bedfellows. I lived in Sacramento when the future of SMUD's Rancho Seco plant was being decided. The Bee did a poll that included a question about returning to PG&E. Respondents who identified as conservative were more likely to want to not go back to PG&E. Respondents who identified as liberal were more likely to want to go back to PG&E. As an aside: What finally did Rancho Seco in wasn't the anti-nuclear hostility - of which there was a lot - but the fact that Rancho Seco had become a money pit and closing it was the only fiscally prudent thing to do. In a way too bad - it was a nuclear plant that wasn't threatened by earthquakes or floods, let along tsunamis. Unfortunately it was threatened by unremitting high costs.
