Unfortunately all too true. The SW-8 #801 which is a standby unit suffered fire damage to the rear end which gutted the cab. Not known yet the extent of damage or if it got into the electrical cabinet or traction motor leads. Unit was re-engined several years ago and a new set of batteries installed last fall.

I have seen a photo of the damage and once I get the "stomach" for it I will assess the extent of damage and plan accordingly. I did notice in the pic the BN logo showing through the soot on the side of the cab.

We have two other active units on the line so we aren't desperate YET!
