The color of potash explains the rust-like stains and streaks you see on top of and down the sides of those light gray Canpotex cars and other hoppers used in hauling that product. As well as the little pink/red granules you see in some fertilizer blends, and the stains they can leave on your driveway or sidewalk if not swept up. PotashCorp hoppers, which are painted a pink/salmon color, manage to look a lot less "weathered" after months and years of service.
