I still have hope, and I think it is a reasonable one, that a few miles of this "lower end" out of Willits could someday be utilized by Roots of Motive Power, the local preservation group. They could run up to Longvale @ 152.5. That'd make a 30 mile round trip over a fairly level gradient. They could restore the siding there and have a place to run around the train. The route is reasonably scenic and a lot of it is in the shade.
