The Missus & I just returned from an " US " weekend in Skykomish, WA. Great weather Saturday for hiking the Iron Goat Trail from Wellington to Windy Point. LOTSA other people out; the most we've ever seen @ Windy Point at one time. Strangely most had never heard of Wellington Trailhead. Some other hikers were masked up, some pulled them up to pass by; there was a good breeze throughout our hike. Fall colors just turning at higher elevations; most small creeks dried up though some still flowing under trail.
The Authorities have seen fit to lock up the PIT TOILETS at Wellington Trailhead " Due to COVID Virus ", yet the parking areas at Wellington & Scenic were NOT posted or barricaded. A trip to Maupin / Deschutes River / Oregon Trunk BLM campgrounds this past April found the same campground toilet treatment; this just forces us to use the bushes. The open - air composting toilet at Windy Point was NOT posted !!!
I noticed AMTRAK Empire Builders W/B at Sky both Saturday & Sunday AM, as well as E/B's Friday & Saturday PM, so I guess Amtrak is still Business as Usual???
