Just for the record:
A letter was written to UP asking for a purchase price, and stating the intention to take the 712 to RVJ, should the price be reasonable.

UP decided to donate the locomotive instead, but that did not matter, the damage was done and the flogging began.

The trolley guys ran off a lot of good people for absolutely no reason at all.
