My grandfather and I took a railfan excursion on the NKP out of Cleveland to Lima on July 20, 1958. I do not remember too much about the Lima end of the trip - I think we got to see some of the Lima works, but on the way we had a good stop at Bellevue. The NKP had pulled some berkshires out of the roundhouse for the fans to crawl on. You had to sign a release on the train.

We had hoped to be hauled by steam but diesels had arrived a few weeks earlier. It was the recession of 1958 and the end of steam.
