Torrance, California Long Lost Rail Branch Info Needed?

Recently, talking to a longtime Torrance resident I found out that a AT&SF rail line ran to approximately the Torrance airport years ago.

Looking at old maps, the line paralleled Madrona Ave. from Alcoa yard, next Torrance Refining, to the Levy Adult Center and turned south into the nearby industrial park before turning west and terminating at what is now the Torrance Costco.

Along the way, at the Madrona Marsh, it looks like there was another branch that went south several blocks to an area near Monterey and Crenshaw Blvd.

Judging from maps, it looks the line was abandoned in the early 70's.

What were the industries that this line served? What was the traffic volume?
