Tom, what you saw at Gerlach is an occasional unit train which is run to Cali with the material used for a soil additive. Not sure of East movements but there have been at least two on the Cal Northern to Hamilton City and a couple into the San Joaquin Valley. It sounds like they load at Gerlach rather than Empire.
