We actually have data from ice cores going back tens of thousands of years, capturing past rates of accumulation and carbon levels... And, who said the sun rising and setting didn't have anything to do with temperature, except you?
We do count and account for CO2 emissions from things like volcanoes, and use that to help calculate the human caused component. We include the biogenic CO2 cycle which produces about 90% of all CO2.... And, from the ice core, sea level, and geologic date, the last time we raised the temperature of earth by two degrees, from gradual shifting in the solar incline, it took 25,000 year and the last ice age ended, with over a hundred feet of sea level rise....
Humans only account for about 5% of the total carbon emissions from the total global CO2 cycle, about 20% of which is absorbed mostly in the oceans, dissolved in the foam, or through increased plant growth, photo plankton, and tiny shelled critters. But, that remaining 4% human caused CO2 component, has doubled atmospheric CO2 levels in the 100 years of reliable measurements, and we've seen global temperatures rise 2 degrees in only 200 years....
So, in addition to getting those coal train pictures, make sure you take the grand kids to see the Everglades, half will be gone, from the already 'baked in" meter plus sea level rise, from current warming, by the end of this century....
