March 1976, Jerry Ford was President and we were well into the Bi-Centennial year as Amtrak #111 (ex-SP #6447) leads the Fun Train at Yuba Gap. The third visible car is Amtrak #3500 which is today the PV "Overland". This would be the last all F-unit train to cross Donner.

February of 1979 found the relativly new F40's enter service on the Hill as icicle breaker equipped #289 is leading two of the ill-fated SDP40F's and a train of steam heated cars.
Jimmy Carter was president and a former actor from California was beginning a run at the presidency.

March of 2004 and Amtrak's P32's, which had displaced the F40's only three years earlier, were soon to be replaced with the P42's. "Henry" The Fun Bear had begun to grace the front coupler. George W. Bush was president and soon to run for re-election while we were fighting wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
