Colorado Railcar demise

Had SMART gone with typical electric light rail operating on its own trackage it would have attracted multiple bidders for its equipment. Now they will be stuck with one.

I gather the rules on competitive bidding must have been relaxed in recent years. There was a time when designing something so that only company could or would bid on it was frowned upon.

They have painted themselves into a corner by caving into Marin County on using locomotives.
